Why a four-figure count matters
There is nothing magic about the number 1,000, but people react to it as if there were. Under it, a profile tends to be judged on who the visitor already knows; above it, the account starts to read as something with an audience of its own. Is 1,000 right for your profile?
1,000 suits accounts that currently have roughly 200 to 3,000 followers and post at least now and then. Below 200, it can look like a sudden leap; above 3,000, the change is modest. A quick sense-check: after the pack, would your average post have at least a few likes for every hundred followers? If your posts get two likes each, adding 1,000 likes to one or two of them keeps the profile balanced.
